Ash-hadu an-na La Ellaha Illa Allah wa an-na Mohamed Rasul Allah
"I bear Witness that there is no God but Allah, and Mohamed is his Final Messenger"
Islam means believing in the One Allah, our creator, knowing that we will one day return to Him and making sure that every breath in our life is in the worship and pleasure of Allah. Islam is a way of life. It is integrated in our every move and thought. It is not a seperate thing or merely a name that you give yourself. Rather, it is who you are; your purpose and destination.
BREIF ON ISLAM:
This is a faith in which there is Truth. It's not a worship of idols of wood or clay or gold that can in no way benefit or harm you, but are rather just another of the creations of the One Allah. It is not a worship of a human whose powers, no matter how miraculous they may seem to be, are still so limited, and whose life will end. It is not a faith in which there are the complexities of the Trinity (the Father, Son and Holy Spirit); that priests and Christian scholars themselves are so confused about. Christian scholars have each come up with different theories about the Trinity such as the Kenosis theory. In fact to a large extent the history of Christian theology is a history of attempts to explain the mysteries of trinity and the nature of Jesus. Christians say "The Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God, and yet there are not three gods but one God". No wonder even the most knowledgeable of Christian scholars are confused! Since each is considered an eternal, immutable, and sovereign person, does that then not clearly add up to three gods? How can faith be built on something that is confusing and unclear?
Allah (praise and glory be to Him) says in the Holy Quran:
"And say: Praise be to Allah, who has not taken unto Himself a son, and Who has no partner in the Sovereignty, nor has He any protecting friend through dependence. And magnify Him with all magnificence."
Jesus was a great prophet of Allah. His miraculous birth without a father became a test for both Jews and Christians. The Jews denied the miracle, declared him to be a criminal, and tried to kill him. The Christians, on the other hand, elevated him to the rank of God, thereby creating a theological mess that only grows with each attempt to clear it. In between the two extremes, stand the clear teachings of Islam showing the Straight Path.
BREIF ON ME:
I am a muslim who hopes to share some of her ideas with others, and to learn as much as I can from all the wonderful muslims on this network.
As for those who think Hijab oppresses women. I would like to say that on the contrary the Hijab has empowered me and enabled me (alhamdulilah) to go out into the world and acheive. I do so with happiness and a feeling of safety, because 1) I have followed Allah's teaching and hence Allah protects whosoever follows Him. 2) I am seen for who I am rather than merely an object which people are free to gaze at.
Wearing the Hijab has never prevented me from participating in anything. I've been swimming since I was 4 years old, I go snorkeling and play sports. I've gotten scholarships to some of the best Universities around the world, I've travelled all over the world; from the States, to Canada, to Singapore, to Malaysia, to Thailand, to Morroco, to Egypt, to Saudi Arabia, to Trinidad & Tobago, to Barabados, to England, to Germany, to Dubai, to South Africa. Alhamdulilah, all with the Hijab.
FINALLY TO ALL PEOPLE:
May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon you. May He embrace you, me and everyone on this earth into his mercy and may He teach us and show us the right path, for He is the All-Merciful and the Guider. May our lives not end in vain, and may we live a life of happiness in this world and the next. May Allah grant us the beautiful paradise in the hereafter, where there is no sorrow, nor worries nor pain; for in this life happiness is not forever, but with Allah happiness is eternal.
