Interests

Researching and sharing information on Chinese martial arts ideas, techniques and training methods. For me, 'Quan' is one art - from health and meditative to direct self defence; from traditional to contemporary, forms to fighting, and from ancient to potential future. What I present is only my research, presented, hopefully, to be of some use to someone, even if only to negate a wrong thing. By sharing our research and ideas we can mutually inform one another of helpful or interesting ideas and methods. I don't believe in hiding from criticism - I can't develop simply by thinking I'm right about everything when there's still so much to learn and research. So by all means leave your comments, criticisms - whatever. For anything helpful, true or kind - thank you.

There is a great deal of information about martial arts available on the Web, and I am constantly learning new stuff, and by no means do I believe that what I say or present is the best yet available information - all of us need to work together, researching and sharing, being humble enough to acknowledge where we were wrong, to improve.

A few people have asked me who I trained under. Personally, lineage doesn't mean all that much to me - skill is more important. However, where I trained is not secret, I just believe that people should present themselves according to their own, personal merits, whatever they might be, and not use the reputations of other people.

Any opinions I may express, or have expressed in the past, are entirely my own, possibly contrary to my coach's opinions, certainly contrary to his constant, wise advice to shut up and never criticise anyone.

However, such skill as I have is entirely due to the exceptional, professional level coaching I received at the Jin Long Chinese Wushu Academy in Manchester, England.

Whatever problems there may be with my movement, I was no doubt told about them a thousand times over the years. It may take a few more years to resolve them all. For anyone wishing to learn authentic, high level Chinese martial arts in the North of England area, I highly recommend the Academy.
