MD-80's actually land relatively slowly. I was just on board so the stall speed was abnormally high. Nyuk nyuk. Gotta lose some weight, ugh!

Amazing how loud the landing gear are. Well until ya realize how humongous those things are. Garage sized doors opening up, house sized wheels locking into position... Sounds like there's a warning ping even.

Here's a funny little coincidence: Examined several freezeframes of this and your takeoff from Seattle... Looked at photos I took aboard Alaska airlines departing DFW a while back. All the flap/aileron smudges etc match perfectly! Same airplane same seat! Sorry about that fart, Texmex ya know...

Seriously though I took a spin on a 757 once with about 10 people on board for a 500 mile or so delivery trip . Like a freakin' rocket sled!

THAT was a hard landing? Try flying in an A380 sometime. Stall? Naah, there would be all sorts of violent shuddering and rolling back and forth. Pilot just got sick of flaring and plopped it stick forward/back. Like an old fashioned 727 landing.

Creepy conversation about plasma flashes. You just know some of those were hunks of wing melting away.

This one perfectly captures the takeoff experience in 737-800's. Love the throttle response and acceleration of the modern hi bipass engines. One can even feel that rough ground effect in the 1st 20 - 30ft of altitude!

Yep. It's underside facing us. Huge notch in the wing, parallel gashes underwing with liquid fire spilling out. 30 degree nose down attitude, about a 40 degree descent path.
