What a wonderful song of contempt. You can feel the sarcasm at the expense of the braggart Cope in the very rhythm, and Beethoven got the point exactly.

This is probably the best of LvB's many wonderful folksong adaptations. |f all the rest of his work (which God forbid) were lost, it would be enough to testify that here was a great, great musician.
