The grid pattern is caused by the data co-ordinates only having 2 decimal points.
Likely the data for the locations comes from EMSC.
Same thing happened with EMSC's plots of the Turkey aftershocks.
Most Earthquake Monitoring Networks use 4 decimal points for more ...
