Ryan Malcolm Knutson, better known now as Explicit R was born in Quesnel B.C. on July 4th 1991. Growing up in the era of Hip Hop there was no escaping the cultures influence on his everyday life, & thought process.
So it was no surprise that at the age of 15 Explicit R was born, Recording his first song in March of 2007, only to be quickly followed up by his debut mixtape "Mixtape Your Mouth Shut" (2007) which was a stepping stone & foundation builder for his long anticipated 2009 release entitled "Lockdown" (2009), at the age of 18. He had now proven not only to himself but also his peers & fans that he was really taking this serious.
In 2010 he set out to prove to the world that this was something that needed to be a full time job for him, & not just a side hustle. In that same year he started a very successful website (www.weshitexcellence.com) a Hip Hop Blog which exhibited all hard working independent artist as well as himself. the website received over 900,000 unique hits in its 1 year lifespan, causing much exposure not just for himself, but all artist featured on the website as well.
In the same year he had his long awaited first live performance, released his first official music video to the song "Moment For Life" with fellow artist Seiz, signed to "Up In Your Basement Records" in October 2010 & released his most recent effort properly titled "Awkwardly Acquainted".
Some older Explicit R fans may remember him from his former groups "Free Agents" & "VerbalPoetz", or from one of his countless worldwide collabs including - Hard Target, Seiz, Lenny Diko, He So Fly, Sidney Suave, Verbz, C Rhymer, Saaph, Ambitious + Many More.
Currently in the studio working on new material. Always Open to collaborate with other like minded artist.
