Before you do the workout, get in front of the mirror, reach out both your arms, and try your best to make your pectorals move. If you can utilize that movement in every rep, you'd be working out your chest.

Also, make sure your back is arched while you're laying down. That is IMPORTANT. If they are not, you'd be working more on your back and arms, not your chest.

Although I agree with the kid, he shouldn't have got up in front of the whole class to publicly humiliate the teacher. That kind of thing makes you lose respect for the target, and it's not a very nice thing to do.

What he should have done was privately pull the teacher aside before or after class, and have a personal chat with them. I don't know if this teacher was as bad as the kid makes her out to be, but it seemed a little rude.
