Summary:

For me there are two types of sales: Transaction Based and Relationship Focused.

Transaction Based selling is selling a product and/or service and then moving on. The life cycle is shorter. There is a relationship created, however the main objective is to make quota, which puts your needs and goals first.

Relationship Focused has a longer life cycle and the characteristics of selling are slightly different. The objective is to put the other person first. Meet their objective and goals. Open your rolodex and not be concerned if you receive directly or immediately.

Of course, both types of selling have their place. I am not abjecting one over the other.

I have come to realize that, well, I am not really a Transaction Based person. In other words, my focus is best suited on the other person and their needs. Building and growing and nurturing long term relationships. Yes, there is a balance. With Relationship building you develop: W3 or a win win win situation. They win, You win, and most importantly the world as a whole wins.

Specialties. I have worked in and for, what many may consider the very best corporations in their respective fields. The focus during that time has been primarily technology which comes easy to me.
