How refereshing - and unusual - to hear this sung without using open chest voice. The only time she really goes into chest is on the last "Silenzio". She was a very good singer.

Check out the post by Addiobelpassato of a live Met performance with Margaret Harshaw as Elisabeth. Varnay was quite an artist but, to me, the voice always sounded labored. Harshaw sounds fresh and right on. Harshaw was a respected Wagnerian at the Met and Royal Opera for many years.

Thanks for posting these. I have always been a big Moffo fan. I didn't know they existed. However, it's hard to tell how the voice actually sounds. The speed is very slow making the ptich at least a half step too low which causeds the voice to sound distorted. I have a recording of a recital she...
