A quick compilation of some unedited scenes not used in the final R5800 video... Of the 56 video clips recorded in the making of the film, only a fraction were actually used. Most of these videos were left out in order to keep the video runtime within the length of the music track.
R23k is currently under construction and due to be operational within the next 2 or 3 weeks. To follow the progress in real time, check out my facebook page at:

The R5800 is my latest and greatest solar creation. Made from an ordinary fiberglass satellite dish, it is covered in about 5800 3/8" (~1cm) mirror tiles. When properly aligned, it can generate a spot the size of a dime with an intensity of 5000 times normal daylight. This intensity of light is more than enough to melt steel, vaporize aluminum, boil concrete, turn dirt into lava, and obliterate any organic material in an instant. It stands at 5'9" and is 42" across. Unfortunately, the R5800 was completely destroyed in a storage shed fire on December 14, 2010.
music: "hypnothis" www.incompetech.com provided under creative commons liscence
Coming spring of 2011: Sun Runner 3 R23000 (R23K)
Area of dish aperture (elliptical)= (pi x 102cm x 73cm)/4 = 5848 sq cm Area of focal point (circular)= pi(0.6cm)^2 = 1.14 sq cm Concentration Power= 5848/1.14 = 5129 then rounded down Output Power Estimate = 560 watts

~Why bother with ordinary RC cars who's batteries go dead in five minutes and take HOURS to recharge?
The Sun Runner 2 is fast and COMPLETELY SOLAR POWERED for hours of non-stop operation.~
My first solar car to be fully radio controlled. Radio range in excess of 100 feet. Top speed: 7.8 mph. Average flat surface speed: 6 mph. NO BATTERIES 100% SOLAR! Panels are interchangeable with all my other creations and connect via RCA ports. A relay bypasses the control circuit transistors above 2 mph for extra motor power (no voltage drop). It was made from an old RC car a friend gave me. It's battery pack had worn out. The conversion involved removing the upper body and adding panel mounts and electrical connections. A longer antenna was also attached.
Length: 16" Width: 11" Power: 6.5v 1.7A
Filmed at South Knox High School and Gregg Park.
COMING SOON: Sun Runner 3 -over 5x larger and 7x more powerful. -all terrain 4 wheel drive -Li-Ion battery backup with automatic charge control -Proportional throttle -Plus More

My latest solar boat, successor to the VortX 2, the SOLAR TSUNAMI. No need for text overlays in this one, it's amazing. (WIDTH: 11 in LENGTH: 30 in)
The Tsunami is superior to the VortX in that it is faster, stronger, and more maneuverable. Paddle wheels allow it to precisely navigate over moss and underwater vegetation, It can even break through thin ice. An internal rechargeable battery pack gives it an extra boost when taking off. Also inside is a rapidly spinning gyroscope to help it handle waves. The hull is made of Styrofoam covered in thick layers of paint. It uses the same control chip as the VortX and is also made out of found and recycled electronics and materials. It can throw water over 10 feet, so the deck is sealed water tight. The solar panels are also waterproof. The only issue is water pooling on the bow, it tends to shift back and forth and make it lean slightly. This causes one paddle wheel to dig in a little more than the other. I cut drainage holes shortly after making the vid, so its not a big problem now.
