Environmental investigations have been our specialty at the Environmental Working Group since 1993. Our team of scientists, engineers, policy experts, lawyers and computer programmers pores over government data, legal documents, scientific studies and our own laboratory tests to expose threats to your health and the environment, and to find solutions.

I appreciate your orginazations efforts to educate consumers but your "dirty dozen" list for fruits and vegetables is sending the wrong message. The number one cause of death in the US is heart disease and 1 out of 3 children in the US are currently considered obese. As a dietician I believe people need to be encouraged to eat more of all fruits and vegetables-not just organic ones. The miniscule amount of pesticide residue found on fresh produce is far below the amount needed to cause biological damage to human beings.
Labeling certain conventional fruits and vegetables as "dirty" sends the message that they should only be consumed if organic. People should not be discouraged from eating fresh produce especially when many cannot find or afford organic fruits and vegetables.
