Police said Tuesday a teenage girl died after a car driven by her 21-year-old brother slid off the roadway and crashed into a tree in Gloucester County, N.J., Tuesday night.
Icy roads and careless driving were blamed for a crash.
It happened around 10 p.m. Tuesday on Breakneck Road in Mantua Township.
Witnesses told police the SUV passed another car in a no passing zone and then lost control, slamming into a tree.
It took rescuers more than an hour to cut the two victims out of the vehicle.
Jessica Skelnik, 17, was killed in the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her brother, David Skelnik, of Mullica Hill, was transported to Cooper Trauma in Camden for treatment, according to the news release. He's in the hospital with a broken leg.
He was charged with reckless driving, driving with an expired license and passing in a no passing zone.
