For a child who suffered with rare form of arthritis that at one point confined him to a wheelchair, watching movies became a way of escape. It was a way to enter another world where a new adventure was waiting around the corner. Now a Seymour resident, Dusty is creating his own adventure in hopes one will give him the opportunity to meet his favorite film maker, director Steven Spielberg.
Clark was born in Sevierville,TN to Mack and Sandy Clark who are from Ohio. Dusty and his family later moved to Texas, then Tennessee. His love of movies came from his mother. They occupied a lot of his time, especially during the year his condition kept him in a wheelchair. Every Tuesday his mother would go to the video rental store to pick up the newest releases or other titles on Clark's list.
It was then that the movie "Jurassic Park" finally had Clark asking his mother who was this Steven Spielberg whose name kept popping up in the credits of his favorite movies. After explaining Spielberg's job as director, Clark told his mother, 'Well, that's what I want to do.'"His first movies was made with Magnavox VHS Movie Maker camera. Pretty soon, he was making movies with the family's Sony 8 mm camera. Dusty worked for what seemed like forever to able to get the used camera from a pawn shop. His mom worked at a video store/gas station. She and Dusty loved movies so much his parents later bought the video store part at the age of 17. It was called Pizza and a Movie. They delivered pizza and the movie, but it never took off.
Shortly after Clark graduated in 2003 from Full Sail film school in Winter Park, Florida, he got the chance to work on a feature film as a first assistant director. The movie, "Shadows Light," went straight to DVD, Clark said, but only solidified Clark's desire to direct his own films.
Clark has since filmed three shorts 'Caregiver', 'A Simple Job' and 'In a Blink'
