That's just what I was thinking. I still love this recording though, Monk is less angular than on other versions I've heard, the drum and bass groove is well supported but with space for the horns to play into. Google brought this up:

Lynx's first experience was with Amiga trackers back in 1991. Historically I'd place the emergence of the bedroom producer as starting around then, maybe a bit before. Strange title for this documentary in 2011 therefore, enjoyed it nonetheless.
