Ah yes I remember you. It has been a while.

The California Zephyr train does go above Donner Lake still but it takes a different route further east of Soda Springs. The Southern Pacific Railroad went out of business in year 1996. In 1996 Union Pacific bought out Southern Pacific and from that year on they re routed the trains through Soda Springs area and they go through a several mile long tunnel in Soda Springs rather than going above Donner Lake for that portion.

If you cruise through my youtube account I actually got to ride on 3 private rail cars on the back of the California Zephyr from Reno to Sacramento in January and I shot video above Donner Lake further east of the original area near Soda Springs where the train used to go.

I have shot tons of video over the years of the California Zephyr on Donner Pass. I moved to the Lake Tahoe/Reno/Carson City, Nevada area in year 2004 and from 2004 through present I have shot various videos on Donner of the Zephyr.

I know a number of the Amtrak employees that work the California Zephyr train across Donner Pass and northern Nevada where I live and every so often I will shoot video of their trains in action. Once I upload the video to youtube they then will link to and put the video on their facebook page and show their friends what their trains look like in action.

Interesting that you are a teacher. What grade do you teach? I used to live in Aptos, California near Santa Cruz and I graduaited from Aptos High School. Next year will be 10 years since I graduaited from Apros High School. I have since moved out to the Lake Tahoe/Reno/Carson City area of Nevada.

Yes, I am a Christian (Rockin4Jesus1st), but I believe in Christ and the Word of God--not Harold Camping. I did not believe that the world was going to end on May 21, just as I do not believe it will not end on Camping's new predicted date, October 31.

We are friends on YT, also I've subscribed on your channel and you on mine. The reporters are shooting from a helicopter, but not the technical abilities are the most important, but to know what and how to take theese gorgeous images; they must be among the most gifted operators to do that.

The video is a footage from BBC and National Geographic, I simply choose the sequences and tried to fit with the rythm of the piece.
