A dynamic flamenco band, with multicultural ethnic roots

Amir Akbari has conceived a form of fusion which incorporates his unique experience with different forms of music. He integrated flamenco with Persian, Jazz, Indian and other Middle Eastern Music forms. His innovative approach to composition blends these forms whilst maintaining their essential characteristics in order to create an original sound.

Amir began the El Aire project in 2001 and the group began theatre performances in 2002. He was soon featured in TV and radio programs including BBC Persian Service, BBC Hungarian Service, BBC Kent, BBC Berkshire, Polish radio Radio Hey Now. American-based Iran TV and in many papers including local Times, Observer and Echo and in various Internet sites and articles.

El Aire's other band members include:

Jules Faife, guitarist/bassist who has helped arrange some of Amir's music since the origins of the band in 2002

Fernando de Sevilla (flamenco singer and guitarist) from Seville, Spain

Alok Verma, multi-instrumentalist percussionist from Gujarat, India

Samantha Quy (dancer and choreographer)

Tony "El Despeinao", accomplished flamenco guitarist originally from Australia.

Christian Segovia (cajon and precessions) from Barcelona
