About this user
The sound of Ekhinoxio has been described as Alternative and Pop Rock without forgetting their Hispanic roots and language. Their trademark sound could be compared to the likes of Nickelback, Creed, Staind and ManĂ¡. Nevertheless, Ekhinoxio also has heavy influences from artists and bands such as Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, Travis Barker, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and John Mayer. Ekhinoxios energetic blend of Pop Rock with straight-forward rock n roll bring a powerful new and original sound to the music scene. Their debut self-titled EP was released on May of ..09 with the collaboration of Mario Sebastian Guini.
What started as a friendship years ago developed into a serious musical project after the members of Ekhinoxio realized their full potential as musicians. After jamming together for a long time, Juan Herrera (Vocals/Acoustic Guitar) and Andres Cardona (Drums) recruited lead guitarist Augusto Pajares, bass player Camilo Zea, rhythm guitarist Jaime Herrera and Ekhinoxios current line-up was formed. Each members style brings something important to the musical chemistry and musicianship of the band. Juans unique vocal qualities set the mood for slow and emotional songs as well as raw and aggressive tunes. Andres brings up the cardio with his hyperactive punk-style drumming, while keeping the bands heartbeat. Augusto keeps the bands old school feeling with his classic rock influences, bluesy guitar licks and raw rock n roll guitar tone. Camilo and Jaime create the bands atmosphere with the pounding bass and bright-scratchy rhythm guitar.
In late 2008, Ekhinoxio started recording what would later become their first EP. The recording of this EP came together thanks to the collaboration of Mario Sebastian Guini, who since November of 03 has been the lead guitarist for Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez. Moreover, he has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry. The recording of this EP took place in his personal professional studio and culminated in early 2009. The final product of this project resulted in five songs that deal from themes such as love stories to social outrage. After the recording process and mastering was completed, Ekhinoxio decided to take the DIY way and Ekhinoxio EP was finally released on May of '09.
Since then, Ekhinoxio has been appearing in some of the most important venues of the Latin-Rock scene in the Tri-State area in support of their debut release.
