Most Malays love Hari Raya songs played during the fasting month and Eid, especially evergreen Eid songs performed by legendary singers such as P. Ramlee. It reminds them of past Eid celebrations, and the people they have loved and lost, and the times to come.

Every year recording labels in Malaysia (local and international label such EMI, WEA, BMG, Sony Music, Universal Music) will produce Eid-ul-Fitr songs performed by many legendary and superstar singers. Some of the old Eid songs are now remixed into contemporary mixes.

Malay Eid songs have various types of music from Malay traditional to Cha Cha Cha to 60s Pop Bands, 70s disco, Middle Eastern, Hindoustani, Ballad, Rap, Pop, Rock and also the latest genre music like Hip Hop and Indie.

When half of Ramadan is over, music stores and malls start selling Eid albums. Some of the Eid CD albums are priced high, especially those from EMI label. Even Chinese New Year albums cannot compete with the Eid album prices, according the RIM (Recording Industry Association of Malaysia) chart, as in the Eid season (from the latter half of Ramadan until the 7th day after Eid) the first, second, third places in the chart will be taken by Eid albums.

TV programmes and radios play Eid songs and video clips round the clock during this period, spreading a sense of anticipation and joy throughout the community.
