@geertdehoux I agree with hennebry. Get the scores and study the works, practise them and reach your own idea of what Schubert's style is about. And as far as being too loud goes, he is playing in a large hall but the microphones are close up. What on earth do you expect? Have you ever played in ...

Schumann: Arabesque (Alexis Weissenberg)
Alexis Weissenberg plays Robert Schumann's lovely Arabesque in C major, Op. 18

Have any of you people actually bothered to look at the score? Check the metronome mark. It's in fact quite a bit faster than Weissenberg plays it. Ok, of course with music of this kind and of this period it would be almost rare to play two consecutive beats in the same tempo, but still. You are ...

@markoctavio Of course I can, and like anyone who has made a career in classical music I could when I was a child. Not only professional classical pianists, but for instance session musicians whom almost no-one knows are vastly superior musicians, as in fact are many kids who have no intention in...

What a glorious performance by the young Gelber! I listened to this (and the 2nd) back in the 70s with some of my fellow students and we were absolutely bowled over by them. There's no change now, 33 years later. Pity the orchestra is so tenth-rate. Whoever paired them up? Still, for piano playin...

@costep Of course I don't only refer to what I can find on Youtube. What kind of an ignoramus do you think I am? Just to make it clear: I know of course that Martha Argerich is a genius, there is no question of that whatever. But there is no question that her repertoire is very limited. When you ...

Well, that deserves a standing ovation, I'd say. What an incredible tour de force by this marvellous man. How could one possibly not admire Fry or indeed love him for his towering intellect and erudition, his absolutely genuine passion and indeed his vulnerability?

Utterly appalling, a travesty. Cheap entertainment, nothing much to do with Liszt's score. Why does a man of such incandescent talent stoop to such silly stunts?
