Rob, that's an idea, but I can't imagine doing standup to an empty room. There needs to be a crowd, otherwise I think it would look incredibly awkward...unless of course that's the effect one wants to create.
It doesn't really cost you anything, except maybe some bumps to the ego. And one does need to learn to handle the knocks. It's part of the process. Builds the required confidence.
I hope the loss of interest is temporary.
