It is unfortunate that such a beautiful country as Japan should be managed by such ugly evil bureaucrats, and completely deranged politicians. A once great nation being held hostage by a tiny group of viciously cruel, and uncompromisingly greedy fishermen! It is hoped through petitions these self serving dinosaurs will be relegated to the nearest compost heap for wormy composting, or better yet deep-sixed on the high seas.

Japan's international reputation is sinking fast in a sea of whale and dolphin blood.
Japan's bogus 'scientific whaling' programmes in Antarctica and the North Pacific are a commercial enterprise. The meat, blubber and skin of the whales killed is SOLD in markets.
Japan allows the marketing of whales from by-catch. The excuse used is that they hope to collect more data. The question is whether such a regulation doesn't actually encourage by-catch! There are 340,000 fishing vessels operating around Japan. Every year International Whaling Commission rejects Japanese proposals to grant its coastal whalers rights to expand their catches, and the angry whalers lead thousands of small whales and porpoises to by catch.
Yearly at least 40.000 cetaceans (whales, dolphins, porpoises) are slaughtered or directed- to by catch in coastal Japanese waters.

Sadly the oriental countries, don't seem to have developed much animal rights legislation.

Not much to boycott other economically weak commercial whaling nations (Iceland and Norway) I just don't visit those counties.

The dolphin hunt is led by just 26 monsters in fishermen form and the Japanese people don't even know about this.
The fishermen, who consider dolphins just big fish, like tuna say "They're food, like dogs for the Chinese and Koreans."
But dolphins are primarily utilized as soil fertilizer, pet food, in fish meals for farmed pigs and chicken and occasionally for school cafeteria food, and sold labeled as whale meat through out Japan. But the main income comes from captivity dolphins, young and nice looking dolphins are sold for appr. 150.000$ each to aquariums, water parks and "Swim with the Dolphins" programs.
Many Japanese commercial fisherman have recently come out on record saying "We kill dolphins because they compete with us for fish. They eat the most valuable fish that we use for sushi. Eliminating the dolphins eliminates our competition."
Dolphin hunt is considered a 'pest control' as if the lack of fish is not caused by pollution, over fishing, habitat distraction of long lines and gill nets.

Reports of co-operative human-dolphin fisheries date back to the ancient Roman author and natural philosopher Pliny the Elder. A modern human-dolphin fishery still exists in Laguna, Santa Catarina, Brazil. Here, dolphins drive fish towards fishermen waiting along the shore and give them a signal when they can cast their nets. The dolphins then feed off the fish that manage to escape the nets.
