(Derpy face is derpy.) For ages 14-24.
From my super COOL email. "According to the International Data Base of the U.S. Census Bureau, there are an estimated 1.5 billion 14-24 year-olds in the world. That's 1.5 billion voices and 1.5 billion ways to be young.
A group of young people in the Chicago area, along with Polyphony H.S. Literary Magazine, have joined forces in an effort we're calling The Belief Film Project. In the first two months of 2012, we hope to reach out to as many of those 1.5 billion voices as we can in an effort to learn about the issues, concerns, worries, hopes, and dreams of tomorrow's leaders.
Our ultimate goal is to create a piece of art born of the great multiplicity of intangibles that weigh on the minds of young people on planet Earth. We have dreams of this being the greatest, global-est poetic collaboration ever achieved. We want your voice, your images, your words, to be a part of this global initiative.
The prompts below are meant to urge forth those things about the world, the future, life, beauty, love, art, etc., that are most important to young people in a form that they have embraced as their own."
WHAT CHA GOTTA DO: Write a prompt, based upon a topic. It must be in 140 characters or less. this has to be emailed to the BFP team by March first. You can also make a video of yourself or make a picture along side your prompt, then attach it to that email.
The topics: "• what does it mean to be you? at this time of your life? at this point in history? • what matters most to you about the world? • what are you wrestling with as an individual? • what intimidates you about the future? • what is your responsibility to those younger than you? • what makes you hopeful about the world? • what worries you about the world? • what scares you about the world? • what confuses you about the world? • what surprises you about the world? • what's the biggest change you've seen in your life? what's the biggest change you hope to see? • what keeps you going? what makes you glad to be alive? • what has been bequeathed (literally or figuratively) to you that you're happy about? • what has been bequeathed to you that you wish you could give back? • who are your role models? who or what inspires you? • how are you a role model? how do you want to be a role model • how would you like to inspire others? • what's the biggest challenge of your life? • what angers you? • what holds you back? • how do you want to make your mark on the world?"
Also, another note: "Though our final prose piece will be written in English, if you want to send your response in your native language (whether by video, email, or tweet), be sure to provide an English translation of it as well. We plan to incorporate a great diversity of languages, as well as voices in the final creative product."
The email to which it must be sent: belieffilmproject@gmail.com
