The System worked better then most people think. True, the standard for living did not reach as high as ALL of the US. But, unlike the US, no one was rotting in a gutter. People lived acceptable lives in the USSR. Not perfect, but better then a vast amount of the US during a recession.

@BeefPortugues The Russian 'Red Guard' WERE the best, for one simple reason. Experience. They had to have each survived some of the most bloody battles in the war. Stalingrad, Kursk, any part of the 'Winter War'. They had all seen more war then any other man should have to see. EVER.
