This channel is a tribute to the work and play of Harry Partch 1901 - 1974.

Harry Partch was an American composer and instrument builder. He remains a somewhat obscure figure, but is well known to experimental musicians (especially those interested in microtonality) and instrument-builders, and is considered by many to be one of the most significant composers of the 20th century.

Originally conceived in the early 1970s, noted puppeteer, friend and colleague, John Crawford is featured here in this video taken over twenty years ago of a puppet instrument he created called "the gut bucket" or "the mother plucker" and is a tribute to their friendship and creativity.

The stage production of "Delusion of the Fury," written by Harry Partch and directed by John Crawford, considered by many to be his best work, can also be viewed here on this YouTube channel.
