In Psalm 119, the author speaks lovingly of the laws of God. God’s law is not a burden but a gift. The passage from Romans powerfully reminds readers that God’s love is present even in the midst of tribulation and that his purposes are being furthered, even if outward appearances would indicate otherwise. In Matthew, Jesus likens the kingdom of God to a mustard seed or yeast; they may have small beginnings but can grow into something much larger. Similarly, the pearl of great price shows that the kingdom may be costly, but it is worth the sacrifice.
