Percussion is my passion!!! I have enjoyed my path with the djembe for over ten years. Along the way I have been fortunate to learn from very talented teachers, including my three principle masters, Abduli Sylla from Les Ballet Africans, Micheal Markus of Magbana in NYC and Paul Assegai Baba Onilu, founder and artistic director of Soli Soma Djembe Orchestra.
Through this art form I have been able to meet many great people from all over the world. I have introduced hundreds of people to the joy of drumming through workshops, programs and performances.
I believe the djembe ensemble is a viable therapeutic tool, a rigorous musical path that takes years to master and a fun way to express oneself.
Health care facilities and educational institutions can benefit by utilizing the melodic and poly rhythmic Djembe ensemble of West Africa to enhance the understanding of other cultures, to further develop communication skills through a team building activity and to enjoy the ancient feeling of connecting with and expressing oneself through drum music.
