I really enjoy my passion of drumming. It all started when I was in middle school when the teachers would assign you an instrument. I actually played the trumpet for my first ever instrument. I later realized that it was very difficult to play and I decided to bag the trumpet. Thats when drumming came into the picture. I started out with a pad, and taking private lessons at an old 17th century barn house. My very first lesson with my instructor was the usual. Introductions, Purpose of drumming, the essentials, what he plans to do during my practice course, all of the basics. Keep in mind at this point I had never picked up a drum stick. So after introducing himself my instructor said to me " let me see what you can do first before we get started on some practice sheets. " I began doing rolls, ruffs, flams, singles, paradiddles, everything that would come up in my future lessons. I had no idea at that point that they had a name for certain strokes, I just did what was in my head and transfered that over to my hands. He was shell shocked. His response, " Oh my, you dont need my help, you've got everything down. " Despite my natural abilities, I still had the desire to take lessons from him. I wanted to know more. So thats that. I took lessons there for 3 year and after awhile I thought I was going nowhere with his teachings and so I bidded him fare well. After a year of no drumming I started on set. Ive been playing for about 3 years now and I'm still goin but I will always remember what started it all. In an old 17th century barnhouse.
