Most people dont know this but the CH-47 floats. Its designed to float with the engines off and the rear ramp open. All of the helicopters systems are mounted up high in the fuselage... about the same level as the engines.

Rotorway kit built. A two stroke engine is not something I would wanna put in a helicopter. Utter lack of reliability, great piloting though. Although it doesnt sound like engine trouble, more like the engine decoupled from the transmission (broken belt or something).
