The story so far: Josh Wilkinson began performing with a unique style of 12-string guitar playing and experimental songwriting in 2002 in hometown Hobart, Tasmania.
After a couple of years of professional development Josh began rising steadily on the local scene and having picked up some quality musicians along the way, eventually formed the band Dream Awake.
In 2006 he took the band to the thriving scene of Melbourne where they spent the next two years gigging voraciously at major venues and festivals throughout Australia, supporting a number of big name Australian acts and releasing two independent EP's: "The Key Tree" and "Temporary Shore" (both available for purchase online and at gigs).
But a thirst for adventure couldn't be quenched in his own backyard, so after touring Australia, Josh took Dream Awake to the Northern Hemisphere in 2008.
Having set up a temporary home in Ireland to explore his Celtic roots, Josh & Dream Awake embarked on a European tour, an enlightening journey by van spanning countries, language barriers and questionable sleeping arrangements.
By 2009, a year of European adventure having passed and a Working Visa steadily approaching expiration, Josh said a tearful goodbye to Ireland and took another oceanic leap, this time landing in Toronto, Canada.
Now officially a citizen of both Australia and Canada, Josh continues to write music in that special "Dream Awake" way, performing regularly in Toronto and occasionally touring to different parts of the country, spreading the love as it were.
Currently a new Dream Awake EP is in the making and as always, plans are being hatched for more international travels of the musical variety.
Thanks for dropping by. Stay tuned and happy listening
