I am currently a nursing student at Michigan State University.I have recently been drawn to work with my horse through something called the Waterhole Rituals (Carolyn Resnick). Stina Herberg's videos documenting her journey with a herd of rescue horses have been eye opening, relaxing, and inspiring. I plan to video my own journey with Romeo as well.
I am an avid dressage lover and am not fond of the turn modern dressage has taken. I have begun to learn more about classical dressage and the proper positioning of the horse's body, as well as the harmony required between horse and rider for the ultimate partnership.
Believe it or not, my horse is a photic headshaker. This means that, when in the sun, he experiences pain and tingling in his head, causing him to twitch, jerk, or shake his head, as well as act like a bug has gone up his nose (snorting and sneezing). The symptoms worsen with work outside. When taken out of the sun, his symptoms completely stop. As you can see, he doesn't shake his head in these videos. I tried many remedies (Guardian Mask, Capstar, and cyproheptadine to name a few) and the only thing that worked was a special mixture of herbal adaptogens. Currently, Romeo takes a mixture of ashwagandha, jiaogulan, and eleuthrococcus powders mixed with his grain in the spring, summer, and fall months. Please note, this mixture was formulated specifically for him by a practitioner. If you would like any information on adaptogens or on my experience, please feel free to message me here.
Outside of horses, I thoroughly enjoy science, the history and psychology of religions, and attempting to live a sustainable life.
Music moves me, and under my favorite videos you are likely to find some of my favorite artists.
