I believe "vidcasts" and "netcasts" are options for what "these things" can be called. But "these things" also works.

I pretty much never use LOL, but do find smilies handy; partially because I'm really sarcastic a large amount of the time, and since I tend to instinctively type pretty much as I speak, that sarcasm's bound to leak into my typing too. As such, I kinda NEED my smilies.

I freaking love this song beyond all reason. Except the reason that it's awesome.
