The newly refreshed Dragonball Z series will be having its very own title, Dragonball Kai. This new title confirmation comes from next weeks issue of Weekly Shonen Jump. They will replace the Z with Kai.
On Monday, February 23, Weekly Shonen Jump magazine will announce that the upcoming remastered broadcasts of Dragon Ball Z will be known as Dragon Ball Kai. These remastered broadcasts will be in HD and will start on April 5.
While this is good news for fans of the series, I'm sure some fans are feeling some buyer's remorse after having put lots of money into trying to buy all 291 episodes on DVD in standard definition. I was half waiting for a huge "every episode" DVD box set, and half waiting for the prices of the individual volumes to hit the bargain bins. Seems like I'll have to wait longer, or maybe just catch the broadcasts this April.
This release coincides fairly neatly with the release of the live-action adaptation which is set to start showing in Japan on March 13, and North America on April 8. I'm a bit hesitant to go see it, but maybe I'll hazard it just for the sake of writing a review for Tecurious. We'll see.
Any of you have the DVDs of DBZ? Will you buy them all again once the inevitable Blu-ray is released? How about the live-action movie?
