Ever watched a Dragonfly soar so effortlessly through the sky & wonder how something so small can fly so smoothly?

I believe the secret lies within the Dragonflies wing itself. The wing manipulates the wind to its advantage, all the dragonfly needs to do is adjust the rate at which its wings beat to compensate for wind gusts. The principle is the same with walking, we don't have to think how to walk, the muscles and tendons have learned from time. So all the brain really has to think about is putting one foot in front of the other, the muscles do the rest.

Well I have over the last 6 years been designing a Dragonfly of my very own. Ive finally over come my last great hurdles with weight & balance. Now I have the first prototype that I want to share with all of you.

Keep in mind this Dragonfly is powered only by Rubber Bands & has limited Distance & Power. But since I have proven the design I will be taking it to the next level by adding a Micro Motor.

It seems YouTube is trying a new look, I'm not sure if I like this...

I have ran into a few snags with my controlled tail design. I had excellent control but the tail failed to support the turbulence during flight & broke within a minute of testing. After going through some design concepts I think I might have came up with a stronger design. Hopefully I will get to work on this prototype within the week.

I will try to post a video this week, but Thanksgiving has taken a damper on my build time.

I have came out with my first RC model!

For the moment all I have accomplished is proving it can fly. In later models I hope to increase speed either by using Brushless Motors or a lighter build. I will keep you all up to date on my latest works.

Tell then, have a Happy Thanksgiving!

I absolutely love your dragon flies, they are one of my favorite flying creatures and you have dun a really good job emulating their flight, your latest model is really impressive and close to the size of a real dragon fly, I would love an rc version that was light enough to glide and slope sore into the wind like a real rc dragon flie and be powerful enough to flap into the wind . Keep them coming, I'm looking forward to seeing it advance..

I think I'm going to take a break for a while. Rebuild my energy for my next design, which is already moldering in my head.

Plus its time to carve some pumpkins & scare the trick-or-treaters! ~HAPPY HALLOWEEN~

Since im on a role making these dragonflies smaller & smaller ive got something really cool to show. Ive came up with a completely new design that doesn't require connecting rods. Im not sure if I want to show this next dragonfly in close detail but ill have videos of its flights coming soon.

This model should be apx. 2" in width & no more then 3" in length, plus the new design allows for more energy to transfer to the wings so hopefully it will have a much longer flight time as well.
