About this user
Dr. Tan earned his B.S. (chemistry) and Ph.D. (analytical chemistry) at the University of Otago, New Zealand, and later became a professor at the University of Massachusetts/Amherst (chemistry and food science/nutrition). His research expertise included lipid-soluble materials such as carotenoids, tocotrienols/tocopherols, CoQ10, omega-3s and cholesterol. He was a pioneer in the discovery of the three major sources of tocotrienol, and introduced tocotrienols benefits to our nutrition industry. He founded American River Nutrition, Inc. in 1998 and developed the first-ever tocopherol-free tocotrienol product derived from annatto beans. Today, the focus of his research is on phytonutrients that have an impact on chronic, degenerative and cancer diseases.
