This is an educational site for those people who want to learn about arthroscopic surgery, Knee, shoulder, elbow arthroscopy and new inventions for arthroscopic surgery. To learn more about shoulder and knee injuries see my new award winning book at Lulu.com/spotlight/rezex.
About Me:

In since 2000 and again in 2010 Dr Reznik was selected by Connecticut Magazine as one of the "Top Docs" in the state by nurses, physicians from other specialties and his peers. In 2001, he became a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He was also named as one of "America's Top Physicians" by the Consumer's Research Council of America.

In 2005, he served as the surgeon on a medical relief team to New Orleans. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita, he treated patients and helped setting up a clinic that cared for hundreds of victims of those two storms. Dr. Reznik is asked to consult on surgical improvements for arthroscopic surgery, and holds several patents. Three of his inventions are now available to help advance arthroscopic surgery and one of his inventions was licensed by Johnson and Johnson. More are on the way. He volunteers on a local school board and is the managing partner of the Orthopaedic Group and enjoys caring for recreational, competitive and professional athletes of all ages.

At age 14 if the cartilage is torn and the acl is not working you may be best off if they are both fixed at the same time. However, (likely at age 14) if you are still growing then the procedure for the ACL must be modified to decrease the risk of altering your growth at the knee.

Book Review of "the Knee and Shoulder Handbook For All of Us"
By kierru
Well, Dr. Reznik and coauthor Jane Reznik have all the answers you need, and more answers to questions you didn't even think of asking. Using a language that is easy for the lay person to understand, the Reznik's clarify a number ofer of very complicated topics. Nine chapters deal with injuries to the knee and 8 chapters explain injuries of the shoulder. The book is well illustrated. The appendix adds a useful glossary, a FAQ section entitled "Q & A with Dr. Reznik", and great advice on "Making the Most of Your Office Visit."

The "Knee and Shoulder Handbook" provides the equivalent of a full day consultation with one of the country's premier orthopedic surgeons, for less than the cost of a single visit's deductible. You won't find a better value in medical care anywhere. Anyone even thinking of having surgery on their knee or shoulder should read this book first. Highly recommended!

Hi Dr. Reznik, I had arthroscopic surgery yesterday on my right knee (actually done at St.Francis by Dr. Jay Kimmel), and he ended up having to do a lateral release. I'm a dancer, and got hurt during an outdoor performance last fall (slipped on wet asphalt and fell right onto my patella, then had to perform 3 more times that night). Thank you so much for posting this video, as I wasn't given many details about it since my doctor wasn't sure if I'd need it. What is a ballpark guess for recovery time after the release? I was told that it would most likely be a bit longer than if I had the arthroscopy alone, but I was wondering if you could give me a clearer answer. Thank you

I did hip scopes 15- 18 years ago- then stopped because I was too busy to keep so many areas of expertise going. AT the time I was doing level one trauma for Yale, a full sports practice and some general ortho. There are only so many hours in the day. Having the cam impingement in both hips would not surprise me. You may have IT band syndrome ot iliopsosas snapping from favoring the other side. Both of those problems could be treated non-operatively by therapy alone.

Dr Reznik, I dont know If you do Arthroscopic surgery for hips but if you do, I would really enjoy seeing a procedure. I had an Arthro done on my right hip for a partial labrum tear and Cam impingment by Dr Matthew Hansen in Gilbert Arizona. I have a Cam impingment on my other hip and have been having some pain and popping as well for the last 3 months, but I also have point tenderness in on my flexor tendon.

Has there been any research showing that its likley to have impingment on both hips, and do you think its very likley the popping is coming from my flexor tendon?
