DOUG DUFFEY [SOLO] VARIOUS
Videos from various live solo performances from various decades. Although I perform more with the band than solo these days, I still do a few solo shows.
I recorded 3 different solo sessions in studios [Monroe & New Orleans, Louisiana- circa 1988-1992] with intentions of releasing solo cds from them... but didn't. I did release cassettes and sold them at my Bourbon Street shows; and did release one solo cd in Europe "Living the Blues" DTM/EMI [out of print] from those 3 sessions. I am in the process of editing 2 cds from them NOW to release on cd.baby.com VERY soon [one cd of bluesy Louisiana stuff- the other the more cabaret/jazz/ballad stuff] This is mainly due to the reaction to the solo videos here on youtube. Thanks!
DOUG DUFFEY [SOLO] BOURBON STREET, NEW ORLEANS 1990s
Clips from my solo sets at the Tricou House, Bourbon Street, New Orleans- shot in 1991 and 1992- where i worked 6 days a week- 4 hours a day- for years! it was probably the greatest learning experience of my life. i learned a lot about performing: dealing with audiences, crazy people...you name it! the piano was right in the front door- right ON bourbon street, so you not only had the people in the bar, but "whoever" to deal with. it was always a circus! the piano was almost always out of tune, or had a broken string; which you just had to accept and "keep on gwine"... the show went on!
there were 4 different pianists a day- this was a blues bar- and they all banged the hell out of the piano... starting at 1.30 PM till 4 AM in the morning... and even later if there were people still there. during Mardi Gras it was non-stop! i was probably the hardest on the piano. i actually broke bass strings with my left hand! i was also the loudest! but it was great fun, MOST of the time, and in retrospect a great 'life' experience.

THE DOUG DUFFEY INTERNATIONAL SOUL BAND
These are videos of the Doug Duffey International Soul Band shot in Europe, mostly at the Blue Note in Biel, Switzerland. This is the band I mostly work with. We have a great feel and are a big family. We'll be doing a lot of recording and video-ing on the winter tour [December 07- February 08] We're planning to record the live shows as well as do some 'rehearsal room' recordings for release. I want to do some 'old school' [Chess records] type recording: playing live with room mics- as well as doing some 8-track recordings. We plan to video everything! This should be fun!
THE DOUG DUFFEY BAND [EUROPE] VARIOUS
There have been variations of "my" band since I began performing WITH a band in Europe [mid 90s] - after my solo years in New Orleans, then a few solo years in Europe. Here are some various bands, shows, etc. from the 90s and early 2000s- BEFORE the DDISB!
THE DOUG DUFFEY BAND [USA] - VARIOUS
"THE DOUG DUFFEY BAND" [USA] -variations of the band from different times; shots downloaded from the global web cast from Tipitina's in New Orleans[2006]; some from the Louisiana Folklife Festival [late 90s]; and from various Louisiana shows- now and then. Laissez le bon temps rouler!
