Stella Mendonça - Mozambique's first native opera singer.

Studies and master classes in France graduating the «Conservatoire National d'Art Dramatique», master classes in Switzerland (Dennis Hall), Spain (Magda Olivero), Austria (Grace Bumbry) and New York (Julliard School).

Independent artist performing internationally, owner of the opera studio Belcanto in Bern, currently living in Switzerland & Maputo.

Producer, art director and performer in Mozambique's first opera production - a staged version of Carmen in 2002.

As from 2003, Stella has been focusing on recitals with Italian belcanto repertoire and oratorios in the USA, Europe and Africa.

In 2008 bringing the first European Symphonic Orchestra to an African National Park, followed by a unique PR project to promote Mozambique's tourist industry - Africa's rising star in tourism: www.land-of-contrast.com.

Stella also is working on cultural projects in Southern Africa, promoting young talents bridging North and South. She was initiating the projects MeetingCultures.org together with Maria Joa Pires and the African opera project TerraSonabula.com, together with the writers Mia Couto and Henning Mankell.
