Communist Party of Syria? I stumbled upon it the other day, and read some of it. Communists in Syria are supportive of Bashar al Assad. That's not to say that they arent critical of him. I remember reading that they were critical of some of his economic policies. Earlier, he allowed some privatization. I'd consider Bashar an economic nationalist. Due to globalization, this isnt entirely bad. Economic nationalists aren't tolerated in the post-Soviet world. The transnational corporations seek complete obedience.
