Don Hite is a Broadway conductor, musical director, a Los Angeles based producer, and Arts Educator. Broadway: Wizard of Oz ( with Eartha Kitt and Mickey Rooney ); Saturday Night Fever. Broadway National Tours: Original Cast Andrew Lloyd Webber's Music of the Night ( Starring Betty Buckley, Colm Wilkinson and Melissa Manchester and Canadian Tour for 3 years!); Miss Saigon; and The Wizard of Oz. Vegas and Los Angeles: More Andrew Lloyd Webber and Oz.. Regional Theatre: Fox Theatre, Kansas: Songs for a New World (3 times). North Shore Music Theatre: 42nd Street , & The Fantasticks for The New Savannah Theatre. Don's producing credits range from mounting the box office hit, FOREVER PLAID at this theatre and 5 other times to Eartha Kitt in Concert: One Purrrrrrr-fect Evening in Charleston SC and Savannah GA; A Chorus Line (Fox Theatre, Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, Lucas Theatre) and Don wrote, produced, and conducted the musical concert tour of Lullaby of Broadway: A Song and Dance Concert Experience for all major markets including Portland Oregon, Kansas City, Missouri, and Savannah, GA. Nominated for Best Musical Direction: Charlotte Summer Theatre: Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Austin Musical Theatre: A Chorus Line. He was the conductor and band leader for the feature film: "First Daughter", directed by Forest Whitaker, and is a member of Screen Actor's Guild, (SAG) and New York Musician's Union (Local 802). New York and Los Angeles Cabaret: Doug Ladnier's "Imagine" and original pianist for Los Angeles' UPRIGHT!. Don was accepted into Manhattan School of Music's prestigious Broadway Musical Theatre program under conductor, Paul Gemignani, Victor Garber, Joanna Merlin, and Scott Ellis -- all Broadway leaders. He has musically directed over 50 productions and held the title of Director of Theatre for New York's Professional Children's School ( yes, Macaulay Culkin and the "American Pie" kids were his students!) Don worked for Disney's record label, "Hollywood Records" in Los Angeles, and for artist promotions of Hilary Duff and movie soundtracks. He has conducted large orchestras and been blessed to work with some of the top performers on Broadway, including Josh Groban, the legendary, Ms. Eartha Kitt, Grammy Award Winner: Melissa Manchester, Marin Mazzie, Ann Crumb, Betty Buckley, Jason Danielly, Ken Page, Billy Porter, a host of "Phantoms", and Casey Colgan He is known for arts education excellence and top-notch student performances since 1989, as well as his musical arrangements for Broadway vocalists. Hite's work in the Arts and children on Hilton Head Island with New York director, Casey Colgan, brought to fruition Hilton Head Youth CentreStage, where students from Savannah to Charleston drove in to be part of their productions -- and brought students together from both private and public schools. Hite owns Don Hite Productions, Inc. and Broadway Carolina!,, which produces top level live entertainment nationally, and has developed new musical works and reviews for the stage: "Lullaby of Broadway", "Jack and Diane" TV: "The Crown Glory". Upcoming record producing and musical direction: "Unexpected Songs" by Trae Gurley. Don resides now on Hilton Head Island, and is currently the Artistic Director and Head of Performing Arts, Music, and Theatre for Hilton Head Preparatory School, where he puts close to 200 people onstage for productions, and was named music master for Savannah College of Art and Design's Performing Arts Division as Guest Conductor. Don is a Furman University graduate with graduate work in Gifted and Talented Education. Manhattan School of Music: Professional Musical Theatre and
