Dolly Parton has written over 3,000 songs, had numerous number 1 hits and won countless Grammy, CMA and ACM awards, not to mention enough gold and platinum albums to make even the folks at "Tiffany's" blush.
This fantastic new album features nine songs written by Dolly herself, and is produced with band leader and guitarist Kent Wells. "The song 'Backwoods Barbie' pretty much says it all," she says. "I grew up poor and ragged, always dreamed of being beautiful like Barbie and the models in the Fredericks catalogue. It's true that the way I look is just a country girl's idea of glamour, but it comes from an honest place. Backwoods Barbie just seemed like such a perfect title for a country album for me." It's also one of the songs from the forthcoming Broadway musical "9 to 5 The Musical" expected to hit New York in the Spring of 2009, which Dolly also wrote all the words and music for.
All the world will be delighted when the Smoky Mountain Songbird takes the stage and shows us exactly why she is such a legend on her forthcoming World Tour. The European Leg starts in Stockholm, Sweden on June 13 takes in Denmark, Norway, Holland and Ireland culminating with two shows at the O2 Arena in London on July 5 and 6, with numerous dates in-between (full dates below).
