I think that by "got hot" I think she means got angry about it? Because the things she says happened to the young woman are all negative things you would get angry about, and I think she is trying to express the anger the young woman is feeling. As far as the young man, I think by "he got cold"...

It almost seems as though she is improvising at some points in this poem, thats how heartfelt it sounds. I love how she just starts singing in the middle, like these words are just flowing from her conciousness unedited. -Emily M.
