Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 9, Intensive Retreat, 9-18 July 2013 Play

These series of 9 videos were recorded during an Intensive Retreat in Mangalakombu (near Kodaikanal) in South India from 9 to 18 July 2013.

Chapter 9 of the Bhagavad Gita is titled 'Raja Vidya, Raja Guhya Yoga'
(The Topic of the King of knowledge, the King of secrets)

Neema Majmudar has selected some verses from the chapter 9 of the Bhagavad Gita to present the essence of this chapter.

The videos start by the following verses:

Sri Bhagavan said:
Now, I will clearly explain to you (who are) without calumny, this most secret knowledge together with immediate knowledge, knowing which you will be released from all that is inauspicious.(1)
This is the king of all knowledge, the king of secrets, the greatest purifier, directly appreciated, not opposed to dharma, easy to accomplish and imperishable.(2)
Arjuna, the scorcher of foes! Those people who have no faith in this self-knowledge, not gaining Me, return to/remain in the road of samsara, which is fraught with death. (3)
This entire world is pervaded by Me whose form cannot be objectified. All beings have their being in Me and I am not based in them.(4)
And the beings do not exist in Me; look at this aivarya connection of Mine to the jagat. My Self is the creator of the beings, the sustainer of the beings and yet is not residing in the beings.(5)
Just as the vast air, which goes everywhere, always exists in space, similarly, may you understand that all beings exist in Me.(6)

Upadesa Saram, Essence of the teaching, January 2014, South India Play

The series of 10 videos is based on the short, beautiful and profound text of 30 verses by Ramana Maharishi, unfolded during an intensive retreat at Arsha Viday Gurukulam from 17-21 January 2014.

Upadesa Saram was composed upon the request of the poet Muruganar who wanted a summary of the whole teaching of Non Duality. Upadesa Saram starts by explaining why any type of action cannot lead to the ultimate freedom the individual is looking for in life. While it explains how knowledge or self inquiry alone can solve the fundamental human problem of self inadequacy, it also expounds the role and scope of action, devotion, meditation in the pursuit of the vision of oneness. Upadesa Saram is thus an essential text to understand the direct and indirect means to gain freedom.

Neema Majmudar has studied intensively Vedanta and Sanskrit with Swami Dayananda Saraswati.
