Actor/Writer Tom Farrell
Tom Farrell continues to have an engaging career, working with exceptional talent in the movie industry. Mentored by Hollywood legend Nicholas Ray, Tom has gone on to do his own work as well as work for the extraordinary German director, Wim Wenders. Farrell has worked with actors Harry Dean Stanton, Peter Falk, and Sam Shepard just to name a few. This Playlist is an overview of Tom Farrell's prolific career thus far.
'I'm a Stranger Here Myself' (1975)
This documentary on Hollywood maverick Nicholas Ray was directed by David Helpern Jr. and James C. Gutman with commentary by Myron Meisel. Meisel also conducted most of the interviews with Ray.
The is the full version of the documentary, complete with all of it's illustrative film clips which have been eliminated from some versions of the film.
A big appeal of this film is the remarkable insight it provides to the making of "We Can't Go Home Again" -- the legendary and elusive film which Ray made with his students at SUNY Harpur College in Binghamton, New York.
The film is narrated by Howard Da Silva and features interviews with Ray himself as well as with Tom Farrell, Natalie Wood, John Houseman, François Truffaut, and Leslie Levinson.
Laurel & Hardy: Together Again (1983)
A rarely seen 1983 documentary hosted by Bob Lang about Hal Roach's comedy team of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. It features interviews with Lucille Hardy Price, Lois Laurel Hawes, Henry Brandon, Anita Garvin Stanley, T. Marvin Hatley and Eddie Quillan.
Wim Wenders' Intro and Q&A for 'Until The End of The World'
On 24 February 2001, Wim Wenders screened his full Director's Cut of 'Until The End of the World' at the Director's Guild Theatre in New York. He introduced the film, and then he took questions afterwards with the assistance of David Schwartz of the Museum of the Moving Image. Actor / Writer Tom Farrell had the good sense to film this event at the time and this footage is courtesy of him.
