I think you missed the point. TF's premise does violate the known laws of physics, but there was a time when those laws of physics were unknown. Purgatory is no longer official doctrine of the catholic church, afaik. Mostly because there's nothing in the Bible to support it. Not sure if I understand your second question.

As for time returning to the "center"... The guy said we're not at the exact center, so where is the center? Is the the center of our galaxy? That would still pose a problem because we can see stars in our galaxy way more than 6000 light years away from us.
