A bit question if any 1 knows: the PC version requies steam? because if yes then i will never buy it,just answer PLS (if you can)

Am i the only one who's download took like 3 hours? i download normal files fast, but this one came with like 37 kb/s...THATS SOO DAMN SLOW! I think it's because the downloader works incorrectly, but IDK any 1 can tell me how can my friend make it faster?

Now i have only 1 question: if Romero wasn't that "asshole" when doom 2 was made, what is the easter is in the end of the game? you know,when you walk through the boss' "wall" and there is Romero's face and he is the last boss.Why is that happened?I mean in doom 2 wasn't Romero a designer?
