About this user

The Department of Acting was created by Debbie Mulholland and Emma Dingwall. Debbie and Emma have set up an intense high-level acting course taught in English, based on the ideas, ideals and workings of their own theatre background and experience. The DAA soon became an all round professional organization attracting students from all corners of the world.In addition the DAA offers corporate workshops tailor-made to suit the needs of organizations and companies.

The Amsterdam Acting and Film Academy is a new initiative created by the Department of Acting Amsterdam, the DAA. It is the only International English speaking film acting study in Amsterdam. Its location in Amsterdam (the International port of Europe) and its committed and global student body have all contributed to this new initiative.

Our philosophy is to bring top-level professionals from around the world and top-level local professionals together, to give our students the best possible training in their pursuit to becoming outstanding actors for the film industry here and abroad.

Modules

Film Acting
Acting for film, voice, physical training, improvisation, Meisner technique and image based acting, scene studies, film craft, portfolio building and student film production work.
With Jacqueline McClintock William Dashwood and Jennifer Norton.

We are dedicated to developing informed and highly trained actors.

The 2010 Acting study will be delivered in 3 progressive modules throughout the year.

There will be two classes, a beginners and an advanced class.

Each class will meet three times a week.
Two evenings during the week, and one halfday on the weekend.
In July/August there will be added classes on Fridays and Saturdays. It is a smaller module.

Return students are invited to apply for the June/July class.

Each class begins with physical training and voice work before moving onto intense acting work.

2010 Time-table.

1st Module.
13th of March till April 29th

2nd module
June 13th till July 11th

3rd module
September 19th till November 21st.

The beginners class meet Monday and Wednesday evenings 6pm till 10.30pm and Sunday mornings 10am till 2.30pm.

The advanced class meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings 6pm till 10.30pm and Sunday afternoon 3pm till 7.30pm.

In June and July the intermediate and Advanced class will have extra Friday and Saturday classes.

Concept to film making

We have also created an opportunity for those interested in the basics of movie making by developing with Daniel Bruce the concept to film making module. This module aims to promote artistic creativity while instructing industry craft skills.

Specializing in screenwriting, directing, cinematography, production and post-production.
