My only comfort is that with body and soul, both in life and death, I am not my own but belong to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ : To enjoy this comfort I must know three things: (1) that my sin and misery are veary great, (2) that Jesus Christ redeems me from my sin, (3) that in gratitude I am daily striving to do the perfect will of God. Although my works and deeds are not perfect and there still remains in me indwelling sin. I look and hope upon the perfect work of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the son of God. The Son of God is called Christ, the Anointed One, because He is ordained by God the Father and anointed with the Holy Spirit, to be our chief Prophet, our only High Priest, and our eternal King. As Prophet, Christ reveals to us the counsel and will of God for our redemption. As Priest, Christ sacrificed Himself for us and makes continuel intercession for us with the Father. As King, Christ rules by His Word and Spirit and defends and preserves us in our salvation.
