About DemocraticEducation's channel
The term Democratic Education is hard to define and very much not agreed upon. So I'm writing my own definition just for this channel, which has a bit of a focus on the Sudbury Valley Model but shows many sides of this educational philosophy.
dem-o-crat-ic ed-u-ca-tion [dem-uh-krat-ik ej-oo-key-shuh n] noun 1.The philosophy applied to a learning community that holds most or all of the following characteristics: shared decision-making among the students and staff, a learner-centered approach in which students choose their daily activities, equality among staff and students, the community as an extension of the classroom 2.Any method of education where the child has freedom to decide what they want to learn, and when, where, how, how much, how fast, and with what help they want to learn it; including home-education.
