Every day Tips: Always have a crafting table on hand so you don't half to be wasting tons of wood in making a "Work Bench World" and try to pick the table up if u put it somewhere NOT your base. :) Happy Minen.
Torches: You only need 16 coal and 16 sticks or 8 wooden planks or 2 logs to make 64 torches, if you want to only get coal for torches. :) happy Minen.
Equivalent Exchange Mod: If you don't want to go to the nether you can create a polosifers :P stone with 4 enderpearls, 4 coal, and 1 egg.
Smelting:1 log can smelt 1.5 items and 1 plank can smelt 1.5 items so making planks is more effective. 1 lava bucket can smelt like 2 64 stacks of stuff but it my use up your bucket. Coal Smelts 8 stuff so 8 coal can smelt 64.
