In psychology, temperament is the innate aspect of an individual's personality, such as introversion or extroversion. Temperament is defined as that part of the personality which is genetically based. Along with character, and those aspects acquired through learning, the two together are said to constitute personality. ******************************** The American Temperament Test Society was created to reflect the typical behavior of breeds labeled agressive. This was an attempt to prevent breeds from falling victim to bad legislation. The dogs are placed in a number of unexpected situations as they are being walked through the park. This helps breeders and owners choose a dog that best fits their lifestyle. (atts.org) THE FOLLOWING IS A LIST OF MANY BREEDS TESTED AND % THAT PASSED. THE RESULTS MAY SHOCK YOU! ******************************** Standord Poodle 85.7 ******************************** Staff Bull Terrier 85.2%******************************** Pit Bull Terrier 84.1%******************************** Amstaff 83.9%******************************** Golden Retriever 83.8%******************************** German Shepard 83.3%******************************** Rottweiler 82.7%******************************** Dalmation 81.9%******************************** Beagle 79.7%******************************** Mini Poodle 76.6%******************************** Chihuahua 71.4%******************************** Chow chow 69.7%******************************** TODAY, PIT BULLS ARE NO MORE DANGEROUS THAN ANY OTHER DOG. IN FACT, ACCORDING TO THOSE STATS THEY ARE ACTUALLY LESS DANGEROUS (WHEN PROPERLY RAISED) THAN A LARGE NUMBER OF OTHER BREEDS. Aggression can be bred out as easily as it is bred in. They are highly trainable and yes, potentially dangerous if trained to be so. (Do a quick read on conditioning, Ivan Pavlov) On the other hand American Pit bull terriers have become well known as search and rescue dogs (lawdogsusa.org), narcotics dogs, therapy dogs (which were used as aids in the aftermath of 911), and they prove to make great family pets. Especially safe with children all the way back to the beiginning. Now let me ask you, what dog in the same weight range is not potentially dangerous if trained? Answer, N*O*N*E! They are what we make of them and nothing else. You can't create a monster and then punish him for it. These criminals need to be stopped in order to protect the safety of our society by preventing the exploitation of loving, vulnerable creatures. People, you must see that it would be completely crazy to ban every dog over 40lbs based on their potential to cause harm. That is exactly where we are headed if people do not start standing up for their rights as Americans. If there were a ban on anything potentially dangerous we as humans would have nothing but cup-cakes and grass...actually if we keep cup-cakes someone may choke, so we are left with just grass...oooh fun! ******************************** Bottom line: RESPONSIBLE OWNERSHIP=GOOD DOG
